Hubert R. Schmid December 4, 1929 - July 10, 2013 Hubert R. Schmid, 83, of Robinson passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in Waco, TX. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Hubert was born December 4, 1929, in New Ulm, Texas to Dr. Raymond J. and Jennie Victoria Strnadel Schmid. He attended school in New Ulm, Brenham and Columbus. After high school graduation, he moved to Waco and enrolled in Baylor University. Hubert married Barbara Jean Lewis on September 16, 1950. He entered the U.S. Army in 1952, and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve after serving 30 years. He worked for several years at Rocketdyne in McGregor, TX, and also served on the board of Rocket Federal Credit Union. Hubert was the long-time owner of J & S Cycle Center in Waco and Killeen, TX. He was presented with an Outstanding Service award from the Texas Motorcycle Dealers Association in 2010. After retiring from the motorcycle business, Hubert worked as a gunsmith at Hewitt Guns and Gold. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; daughter, Lori Beam and husband, Jim of Lorena, TX and son, Steven Schmid and wife, Win-Jane of Hewitt.
