Glynn Edwards Lightsey September 13, 1940 – October 13, 2013 Glynn Edwards Lightsey, 73, of Speegleville, suddenly went Home to his Lord and Savior early Sunday morning on October 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, at Western Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow at White Hall Cemetery in Woodway. His son, Brent Lightsey, Curtis Holland, and Terry Graham will be officiating. Visitation will be held 5-7 P.M., Tuesday, October 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Mr. Lightsey was born in Kilbourne, Louisiana, on September 13, 1940, to Margie B. and Jack Herman Lightsey. He married Mary Kay (Lindsey) Lightsey on June 12, 1965. They spent 42 precious years together before she went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2006. God blessed our family when he married Dorothy Heath Martin on July 25, 2009. They spent over four wonderful years together. Mr. Lightsey became a Christian at an early age, and he lived his faith every day. He was a wonderful Christian man who had a kind and gentle spirit. Glynn was a loving husband, father, and a precious "Papa G" to his grandchildren. He was an active member of Western Heights Baptist Church for over 40 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and served on many committees through the years. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Woodway. Glynn had a true servant's heart. Mr. Lightsey attended Kilbourne schools, and he graduated from Kilbourne High School in 1958. He also graduated from Northeast Louisiana State University (now ULM) in 1962. He served as a Captain in the United States Army. He was the shipping /receiving supervisor at Word Incorporated for over 25 years. After retirement, he followed in his father's footsteps and opened Lightsey Lawnmower Repair in 1993. He always enjoyed seeing his customers. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed. Glynn is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lightsey; his daughter, Sherrie Lightsey and granddaughter, Maddie Grace Lightsey; his son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Nicole Lightsey, and granddaughters, Jenna and Maci Lightsey; and daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Melvin Machayo, and granddaughters, Linet and Michelle Machayo. He is also survived by Dorothy's family: Matt and Lisa Martin and children, Meagan, Emily, and Ryan Martin; Melanie and David Gloff, and children Grant, Garrett, and Madison Gloff. Glynn is survived by three sisters, Sylvia Lightsey, Linda Cain and Janet Wiggins; and his brother, Max Lightsey; and by dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Pallbearers are Matt Martin, David Gloff, Ryan Martin, Bryan Lightsey, Hayden Lindsey, Mike Tawater, John Morris, Gary Spradling and Chad Schrotel. The family would like to thank the medical staff at Hillcrest Medical Center for all of their loving care and medical attention they provided for him (and us) during the last few days of his earthly life. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at
