Gloria Veronica Ubele February 17, 1924 - October 13, 2013 Gloria Veronica Ubele, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, dear friend to many, and servant of the Lord, passed into Heaven on Sunday morning, October 13, 2013. Please join her friends and family at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, at First Lutheran Church in Waco for worship services. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery and a Remembrance Reception will follow at First Lutheran. Gloria was born in Rodevale, Queensland, Australia on February 17, 1924 and grew up in the country with her seven sisters and brother. During the war, she met her future husband, Bob Ubele, an American GI stationed in Brisbane. They fell in love and he proposed through the mail after the war. She accepted, boarded a ship, and met him in San Francisco to become his wife in 1946. After briefly living in Philadelphia, his company moved him to Waco, Texas in 1950 where they made their home. They built their life through the community of believers at First Lutheran Church where they had many friends and opportunities for service. She loved others through her caring acts of service and skill as a quiltmaker. She was dearly loved by her family, and all who knew her both at church, and in her home at Stilwell Retirement Residence. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Davis and husband, Tom, and Lauren Grant and husband, Reg; grandchildren, Brian Davis, Lauren Davis, Rosalyn Berger, Gabriel Grant, Nicholas Grant, one great-grandson, Evan Berger; two sisters in Australia, Naomi Jericho and Yvonne "Pat" Commons; sister-in-law, Lois Sprouls; and many nieces and nephews.
