Corey Austin Fowlkes February 12, 1989 - August 23, 2013 Corey Austin Fowlkes, 24, of Waco, Texas, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, in Hurlburt Field, Florida. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Pastor Paul Allison officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park with military honors. Corey was born February 12, 1989, in Temple, Texas. He graduated from China Spring High School in 2007, and joined the United States Air Force in 2008. After training at Lackland and Shepherd Air Force Base, he was stationed at Hurlburt Field AFB in Florida. Corey was an avionics tech working on the C130 Gun Ships for the U.S.A.F, and he served a tour in Afghanistan during his service. Corey loved his country and wanted to see the world. He had a heart of compassion and loved his family and friends. He loved to exercise, fish, hunt, swim, lifeguard (during high school), paintball, watch action movies, eat home cooked meals, make and eat brownies, play video games and wage water balloon wars with his cousins. Corey was preceded in death by his brother, Tanner J. Wilson; grandparents, Eddie and Jan Fowlkes; and grandfather, Cecil R. Fisk. Corey is survived by his father, Trey Fowlkes of Waco; mother, Terri Brown of Dallas; sister, Braden Wilson; grandmother, Linda "Nanny" Fisk; aunts and uncles, Sherry & Devin Albert, Carol and Wes Slater, and Renee "Nene" and Doug Murrey, and Jerry and Sharon Breed; great-great aunt, Delores "Pokey" Conn; cousins, Alissa, Colin, & Hayden Murrey, Grace Slater and Karys and Emory Albert; and other family members.
